The College of Dentistry, University of Baghdad, held a viva for a master’s thesis entitled “ The effect of salivary status on oral health status and its relationship to psychological stress and weight status among a group of male students aged 15 years ” by Aswar Ahmed Hamoud.
The primary aim of the research was to study the effect of salivary status, which includes each of (salivary acidity, salivary flow rate, salivary zinc, salivary vitamin B12, and salivary folic acid) on oral health status,
The study concluded that the above-normal and below-normal weights of students affect tooth decay, oral hygiene and gum health by reducing the flow rate and degree of saliva acidity and changing the rates of chemical elements in saliva.
The committee awarded the degree following the viva and consideration of the student’s use of scientific references and defense of her thesis
