Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdel-Razzaq\u00a0Al-Hashemi, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Genotyping Detection Methods) that was delivered by Prof. Dr.\u00a0 Batoul Hassan Hashem, and was attended by staff members. <\/span>
\nThe workshop topics include an explanation of the methods used in detecting single nucleotide polymorphisms, and how to read the result.<\/span>
\nSingle nucleotide polymorphisms, often called polymorphisms, are the most common type of genetic variation among people. The detection of single nucleotide polymorphisms is of great importance in early diagnosis of diseases and rational use of drugs. Common methods for detecting polymorphisms include DNA genome sequencing (e.g., whole genome sequencing (WGS) and targeted gene sequencing) and PCR-based methods (particularly using real-time PCR platforms), and additional detection methods include Mass spectrometry, microchip methods, and high denaturing…<\/span><\/p>\n

The recommendations were to direct researchers to use up-to-date methods that can reduce time\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
