The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entitled Study of the effect of surface treatment with piranha solution on the bond strength of heat-treated acrylic with soft silicone liner. By the student Nour Azhar Qasim.<\/span>
\nThe aim of the thesis: To improve the adhesion strength of the soft silicone liner to the heat-cured acrylic using piranha solution.<\/span>
\nThe thesis also included: Using different ratios of piranha solution for the experimental study (1:5, 1:7, and 1:9 hydrogen peroxide to sulfuric acid by volume) at three different times (20, 40, and 60 seconds), according to the results obtained, the ratio 1:7 at 20 seconds and the ratio 1:7 at 40 seconds showed that they were the most effective in increasing the shear bond strength test and surface roughness of the heat-treated acrylic samples that were selected for the main study. A total of 150 samples of heat-cured acrylic were manufactured and divided into two experimental groups and a control group, each group divided into five subgroups. Ten samples were used for each test (surface roughness, shear bond strength, surface hardness, wettability, and color fastness).<\/span>
\nThe most important recommendations of the study: The bond between heat-cured acrylic and silicone soft liner was better enhanced with Piranha solution treatment at a ratio of 1:7 for the group at 40 seconds. The surface roughness and wettability increased in both experimental groups. In contrast, the surface hardness was not affected in both groups. The color fastness of acrylic was affected after surface treatment. The effect of Piranha solution treatment on the micro-leakage of soft liner using acrylic resin was also studied.<\/span>
\nThe thesis was accepted by the discussion committee.<\/span><\/p>\n
