{"id":4522,"date":"2025-10-30T20:39:32","date_gmt":"2025-10-30T20:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.codental.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=4522"},"modified":"2025-10-30T20:39:32","modified_gmt":"2025-10-30T20:39:32","slug":"importance-of-community-support-for-the-deaf-and-mute-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.codental.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=4522","title":{"rendered":"Importance of Community Support for the Deaf and Mute Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul-Razzaq Mohammed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad, through its Media and Government Communication Department and in cooperation with the University Psychological Counseling Unit, organized a seminar entitled &#8220;The Importance of Community Support for the Deaf and Mute Community.&#8221; The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Mona Abdullah Salim and attended by a number of students from the college.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The seminar aimed to raise awareness of the rights of the deaf and mute community and to highlight the importance of community support in enabling their active participation in education, work, and social life, thereby achieving justice and equality and strengthening the spirit of human solidarity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The seminar also covered several key themes, most notably:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">1- The Humanitarian and Social Aspect: which emphasizes respecting diversity and accepting the deaf and mute as an active part of society, and the role of family and community in providing them with psychological and moral support.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>2- The Educational and Rehabilitation Aspect: This addresses the development of educational curricula and the provision of sign language interpreters, along with vocational training and rehabilitation tailored to their abilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">3- The Professional and Economic Aspect: This focuses on providing suitable job opportunities, encouraging institutions to employ them, and supporting their own projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">4- The Media and Awareness Aspect: This highlights the role of media in raising awareness of their rights and producing content in sign language to facilitate communication and promote social inclusion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The symposium recommended the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">1. Strengthening governmental and community programs that support the deaf and mute community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">2. Training educational and administrative staff on effective communication mechanisms with the deaf and mute.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">3. Allocating job opportunities that match their abilities and fostering an inclusive work environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">4. Engaging the media in raising awareness and highlighting their success stories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">5.
