{"id":5270,"date":"2025-05-15T16:37:40","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T16:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.codental.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5270"},"modified":"2026-02-25T16:40:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T16:40:11","slug":"college-of-dentistry-organizes-continuing-education-course-on-advanced-geriatric-prosthodontics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.codental.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5270","title":{"rendered":"College of Dentistry Organizes Continuing Education Course on Advanced Geriatric Prosthodontics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a continuing education course entitled <em>\u201cAdvanced Geriatric Prosthodontics: Tailoring Care for the Elderly\u201d<\/em>, attended by a number of faculty members.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The course aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the unique challenges faced by elderly patients in dental prosthetics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Key topics covered included:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Improving the quality of care for elderly patients.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Training on the latest prosthodontic techniques.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Enhancing diagnostic and treatment planning skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Effective communication and interaction with elderly patients.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Strengthening the practical competence of dental practitioners.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The course recommended the importance of understanding the physiological and oral changes associated with aging, as well as managing common issues such as tooth loss due to gum recession and xerostomia (dry mouth). It emphasized selecting the most suitable prosthetic option according to the patient\u2019s health status and age, while considering chronic diseases and the impact of medications on oral health and prosthetic outcomes.
