{"id":5524,"date":"2024-10-15T17:17:24","date_gmt":"2024-10-15T17:17:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.codental.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5524"},"modified":"2026-02-27T17:20:59","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T17:20:59","slug":"faculty-members-of-the-college-of-dentistry-publish-scopus-q1-research-on-the-use-of-three-dimensional-measurement-in-evaluating-root-canal-fillings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.codental.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5524","title":{"rendered":"Faculty Members of the College of Dentistry Publish Scopus Q1 Research on the Use of Three-Dimensional Measurement in Evaluating Root Canal Fillings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">A research study entitled \u201cThree-Dimensional Measurement for Evaluating the Sealing Quality of Bioceramic Materials in Filling Internal Root Resorption Cavities Using Different Obturation Techniques\u201d was published by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Hamed Ali, Head of the Department of Conservative and Esthetic Dentistry, and Master\u2019s student Ammar Mutashar Sharqi from the College of Dentistry, University of Baghdad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The research was published in the Journal of Endodontics in the United States, a journal issued by the American Association of Endodontists, and ranked among the top ten dental journals worldwide. The journal is classified as Scopus Q1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Study Objective:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The study aimed to evaluate and compare the quality of root canal obturation by measuring the percentage of filling volume in root canals with artificially created internal root resorption cavities. Different materials and obturation techniques were assessed using three-dimensional Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Methodology:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The study was conducted experimentally on extracted teeth using advanced computer software to measure the accuracy of root canal obturation in teeth affected by internal root resorption. The techniques evaluated included:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 Single-cone technique<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 Cold lateral compaction with Bio-C Sealer<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 Continuous wave compaction<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 Bulk-fill technique<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Three-dimensional CBCT imaging was used as a non-destructive and indirect method to measure the quality of obturation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Results:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The findings demonstrated the importance, benefit, and accuracy of three-dimensional measurement in assessing root canal fillings in teeth with internal root resorption.
