Duties
The department of oral diagnosis comprises several branches, each one is responsible for teaching certain subjects, as follow:
- Oral medicine: this branch is specialized in giving lectures and clinical training for the fifth-grade students about diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of different conditions and syndromes that affect the oral cavity and temporomandibular joint.
- Oral pathology: this branch is dedicated towards teaching histopathological nature of oral diseases and syndromes for the fourth grade and train the students how to diagnose these conditions microscopically. In addition, the department is proud of having the only dedicated lab for diagnostic services in Iraq that offer these services to referred patients from other hospitals and clinics.
- Oral Radiology: This branch gives lectures for the third grade and the topics start with physics and hazards of the radiation then how to differentiate different oral conditions in different diagnostic radiographs. This is accompanied with practical training for the students in the clinics of the department.
- General pathology: this branch gives lectures about the histopathological features of different conditions that affect body organs.
- Oral histology: this branch is specialized in teaching histology of oral tissues in health and diseases.
- Embryology: this branch is dedicated in teaching embryonic development of oral tissues in particular and body tissues in general.
Degrees awarded
The department award HDD, MSc, and PhD in different specialities included in this department
