Under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdel-Razzaq Mohamed, College of Dentistry University of Baghdad organized a scientific symposium on stem cells and orthodontics entitled “Stem cells and orthodontics” by Prof. Dr. Mashreq Fawzi, in the presence of a number of teaching staff.
The scientific symposium aimed to introduce the benefit of stem cells in various medical fields, including dentistry. Stem cells have the ability to transform into different types of cells. One of its most important uses in orthodontics is to speed up the movement of teeth, as well as to compensate for bone lose.
The symposium dealt with several topics, including defining stem cells and their benefits, and the current methods of using stem cells.
The presenter recommends reviewing the literature of recent studies about stem cells.
