The oldest laboratories at the College of Dentistry were established at the beginning of the college in 1953, these were the Prosthodontic and Dental conservative laboratories. There was a laboratory manager named Mr Creighton, who died in Iraq and was buried in his land.

The first histology laboratory was established in 1970, this lab is for diagnosing oral cancer cases in Iraq. The laboratory still keeps samples dating back to the seventies and eighties of the last century.

In 1990-1991 teaching laboratories have established in many branches of the college including Basic Sciences, Oral Diagnosis, and Orthodontics. Later on, the college continued to establish educational laboratories, some laboratories were opened in the years 2011-2012 and the year 2015-2016, where an Anatomy laboratory, a Biochemistry laboratory, and a modern Phantom laboratory were established and designed for postgraduate studies

The current number of laboratories of the College of Dentistry is twenty-two laboratories. These laboratories were for educational purposes.  Some laboratories have educational and therapeutic services, such as the Prosthetic laboratory, the Crowns and Bridges laboratory, and the Orthodontic laboratory. These laboratories provide manufacturing of complete dentures, fixed and movable partial dentures, and removable orthodontic devices, in addition to diagnosing Oral cancer diseases.
