Symposium objective: To introduce antimicrobial peptides (polypeptide antimicrobial substances).
More than 100 types of these peptides have been identified in fungi, insects, amphibians, and humans.
The symposium included topics that addressed: identifying the types of peptides, their classification, functions, locations, the importance of their presence in saliva, secretion locations, and function in saliva to protect against germs.
The symposium recommends: studying the level of these peptides in the mouth, as they reflect the state of oral health and the body’s response against oral microbes.
