Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdel-Razzaq Muhammad, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a continuing education course entitled Reconsidering Viral Infection in Children: Chickenpox, in the presence of a number of faculty members at the college.
The aim of the course is to familiarize participants with the definition of chicken pox and the virus that causes it, as well as the stages of the disease and symptoms, the role of the immune system in confronting and resisting the disease, and the most important treatments used and preventive methods.
The course included various topics, including:
1- Definition of the final stage of infection and the most important symptoms.
2- An overview of the disease and the disease-causing factor.
3- The immune response and the role of the immune system in defending the body against the virus
4- Identification of the virus genome and deoxyribonucleic acid.
5- Discussing the latest developments in the treatment of chickenpox, including the most important medications that can be used, with a brief explanation of their mechanism of action – the reasons for using them, in addition to the most important side effects that may occur after using them.
The course recommended the necessity of launching educational and awareness programs about chickenpox and following methods of prevention and treatment in the event of chickenpox infection.
