Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdel-Razzaq Muhammad
The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a symposium entitled (Cancerous Transformation in Pleomorphic Adenoma of Salivary Glands) delivered by Dr. Najwa Jamil Al-Chalabi, in the presence of a number of college teachers
The symposium aimed to introduce the ability of pleomorphic adenoma to become cancerous and explain methods for early detection of tumors with the ability to transform.
The symposium also included topics that dealt with an explanation of the age and social groups that are most vulnerable to cancerous transformation and an explanation of the factors that stimulate cancerous transformation. It also included displaying surgical images showing the treatment method to avoid recurrence of the disease after surgery. It also discussed the most important tests that help in detecting tumors that have a high rate of recurrence of the disease after treatment.
The researcher called for the necessity of identifying effective treatment methods, whether surgical or radiation, depending on the type of tumor and its ability to transform into cancer, and the necessity of following up the patient after treatment to ensure complete recovery.
