Under the patronage of the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ansaf, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry / University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdel-Razzaq Al-Hashemi, a graduation ceremony for postgraduate students of College of Dentistry / University of Baghdad for the year 2023-2024 has been held for the 1st time on Sunday, 21st of April 2024, in the hall of the martyr Dr. Darb Al-Moussawi. Dr. Abu Bakr Ziyad Al-Rawi, the head of the Iraqi Dental Association and Dr. Manhal Al-Rudaini, the head of Baghdad Dental association.
The ceremony opened with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, listening to the national anthem, and reading Surah Al-Fatihah, out of mercy for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq. A documentary film about the college’s achievements was filmed afterward.
The Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Al-Hashemi, on behalf of the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ansaf, gave a speech to congratulate the graduated specialists and appreciate the efforts of the students during the study period, praising their role in the field of medicine and urging them to work to build Iraq and serve society. He then has appreciated the efforts of the faculty in guiding students towards success. In his speech, Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Al Hashemi, spoke about the college’s pioneering role in providing a sustainable educational environment, implementing distinguished academic programs, and providing therapeutic services to meet the needs of the community. He pointed to the college’s various achievements, including rehabilitation campaigns, rebuilding the college’s infrastructure, and modernizing the curricula. In addition to increasing the number of scientific articles published in prestigious international journals, emphasizing continuous improvement in quality of scientific researches. He also pointed out the importance of the success of graduate students during their years of study and their important role in serving their community and develop the field of dentistry through their active participation in published research, providing new perspectives and innovative ideas, analysing data, and participating in scientific experiments.
The graduate, Dr. Zainab Murtada, gave a speech on behalf of her colleagues, in which she addressed her feelings of pride in the journey of years of research and effort to acquire knowledge. She thanked the Dean, the teachers, and the employees who contributed to illuminating the path to the future.
The graduating students were honoured with certificates of appreciation and symbolic gifts, in addition to honouring the first student who excelled in the course, in appreciation of their efforts in supporting and developing the College of Dentistry. At the end of the ceremony, a group photo was taken that embodies the joy and success.
