Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Muhammad, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled (Social media and its impact on the Iraqi family) delivered by Colonel Omar Ibrahim Afkar / Director of Community Police, Karkh side, and attended by a number of employees and lecturers of the college.
The aim of the workshop: to identify the positives and negatives of social media on members of society.
The workshop also included several axes: It dealt with social media and its effects on the social relations of members of the Iraqi family. As well as the reasons that drive society to participate in social media.
The workshop recommended the importance of:
1- Organizing community awareness courses on the proper use of social media and investing in scientific, cultural and social benefits.
2- Spreading awareness of the importance of family cohesion and being keen to sit and dialogue with family and rationalizing the use of social media so that it does not affect social communication with the family.
3- Emphasizing the role of the family in guiding children on how to deal with social media. At the end of the workshop, Colonel Omar Ibrahim Afkar / Director of Community Police was honored by the esteemed Dean of the College for the efforts made in giving the lecture and educating the attendees about the mechanism of using social media sites in the correct way.
