Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Muhammad, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a continuing education course entitled Bacterial Infection in the Oral Mucosa, with the attendance of a number of faculty members in the college.
The course aimed to identify the types of bacterial infections in the oral mucosa, how to diagnose them, the immune system’s response to them, and the treatments used to eliminate these infections.
The course also included topics that included:
1-The oral appearance of some types of bacterial infections.
2-Types of bacterial infections in the oral mucosa.
3-The immune response in the mucosa against bacterial infection.
4-The role of chlorhexidine in treating bacterial infection in the oral mucosa, the method of use, and the side effects associated with its use.
The course recommended not to ignore any inflammation of the oral mucosa and to take regular care of oral health due to the presence of many bacterial infections transmitted through the mouth, as well as using chlorhexidine as a mouthwash to prevent bacterial infections that may affect the oral mucosa, but not for long periods to avoid tooth staining.
