Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Muhammad, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad / Department of Media and Government Communication organized a scientific symposium entitled Confronting the phenomenon of illegal immigration in light of global instability, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Maha Faisal Ahmed and attended by a number of college students.
The symposium aimed to educate students about the dimensions of illegal immigration and mechanisms to reduce it by enhancing awareness and developing sustainable solutions.
The symposium also included axes that addressed:
1. Definition of illegal immigration.
2. Causes of migration.
3. Effects of migration on individuals and societies.
4. Legal and security challenges.
5. Solutions to reduce illegal immigration.
The symposium recommended:
1. Enhancing education and job opportunities by providing better educational and job opportunities for individuals in their countries to reduce the motives behind searching for a better life outside their countries.
2. International cooperation to address the roots of the migration problem, including combating corruption and promoting sustainable development.
3. Improving living conditions by supporting economic and social development programs in affected areas to improve living conditions.
4. Tightening border controls to reduce the circulation of illegal immigration and avoid security risks.
5. Supporting awareness and education campaigns for individuals on the risks and consequences of illegal immigration.
6. Strengthening legislation and refugee rights and providing mechanisms to seek international protection.
