College of Dentistry – University of Baghdad
Overview
The College Council is the highest academic and administrative authority within the College of Dentistry, University of Baghdad. It is responsible for formulating academic policies, overseeing administrative and educational affairs, and making strategic decisions that support the College’s mission in education, research, and community service, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Council Composition
The College Council is composed of:
- Dean of the College – Chairperson
- Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students
- Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs
- Heads of the Scientific Departments
- Secretary of the College Council
- Additional members, where applicable, in accordance with university regulations.
Responsibilities
The Council is responsible for:
- Establishing the College’s academic and strategic policies.
- Reviewing and approving curricula and academic programmes.
- Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate educational affairs.
- Supporting scientific research and academic development.
- Reviewing academic promotions and related academic matters.
- Approving the formation of academic and administrative committees.
- Monitoring quality assurance and institutional performance.
- Implementing University and Ministry regulations and directives.
- Promoting continuous improvement in teaching, research, and administrative practices.
College Council Secretary
The Secretary of the College Council provides administrative support to the Council by:
- Preparing meeting agendas.
- Recording and maintaining official meeting minutes.
- Coordinating the implementation of Council resolutions.
- Managing official correspondence and administrative follow-up.
Council Meetings
The College Council convenes regularly throughout the academic year to discuss matters related to:
- Academic programmes and examinations.
- Student affairs.
- Scientific research and postgraduate studies.
- Administrative and financial issues.
- Quality assurance and institutional development.
- Implementation of Council resolutions.
