University of Baghdad/ Faculty of Dentistry has organized a continous education course entitled (The Physiological Role of main Hormones in the Endocrine), in the presence of number of teaching staff members.
The objective of the course is to learn details about endocrine hormones and their physiological role in the body. The endocrine system consist of several glands secrete hormones; hormones are biologically active substances which produced by these glands and released directly into the bloodstream and exert their biological effect on different systems of the body. Hormones have a vital role in the growth and development of the orofacial structures and their functional activities. Therefore, changes in the level of these hormones may lead to different manifestations in the orofacial structures and in all body organs.
The course held for 4 days with different themes which include:
1- Effect of hormones on oral structures
2- Histological structure of the endocrine system
3- Effect of endocrine hormones on body systems
4- Endocrine system chemical control.
The course recommendations are that; it is necessary to know the physiological role of the endocrine glands and their secreted hormones and the chemical effects of these hormones in all organs of the body, including the structures of the mouth and face, and how to chemically control this system.
