The College of Dentistry organized the fifteenth scientific conference for postgraduate studies under the auspices of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, and with the support of the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Mounir Hamid Al-Saadi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Muhammad.
The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized the fifteenth scientific conference for postgraduate studies entitled (Dental Research Our Way to Achieving Sustainable Development). The President of the University of Baghdad, the President of the Iraqi Council for Medical Specializations, and the Director of the Inspection Department at the Ministry of Health. And a representative of the Minister of Health, Dr. Abbas Sabah Al-Humairi attended the conference.
The conference included: the opening with verses from the Holy Quran, listening to the national anthem, and reading Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of our righteous martyrs. Then listening to the anthem of the University of Baghdad.
The President of the Conference, Dr. Raghad Abdel-Razzaq, delivered his speech in which he presented the college’s achievements since its establishment and praised the college’s endeavor to move towards achieving local and global accreditation through the application of institutional and program accreditation standards.
Then the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, delivered his speech and he presented the importance of supporting clinical experience with scientific research. He pointed to the publication of the University of Baghdad in international scientific journals, which is a stone in building the ambitious scientific level in higher education.
He praised the importance of scientific research, the importance of electronic communication, and the importance of research in different scientific disciplines.
Dr. Abbas Sabah Al-Hamiri, the Director of the Inspection Department at the Ministry of Health, delivered his speech in which he spoke about the advanced scientific status of the University of Baghdad and the College of Dentistry in supporting and continuing scientific research. Then, the Dean of the College of Dentistry honored a number of excellent researchers.
The visiting professor from New York University – Buffalo, Dr. Latifa Al-Mandalawi, presented a research on dental implants which was followed by oral presentations of many postgraduate students. In addition to an exhibition of scientific posters and of dental tools and equipment were held on the sidelines of the scientific conference.
The goals of the conference were:
• Presentation of the latest scientific results reached by postgraduate students in the college
• Shedding light on the applied research carried out by postgraduate students and their supervisors for employing them practically in achieving sustainable development.
•Exchanging experiences and learning about up to date research experiences
• Developing the research and academic capabilities of students, researchers and teaching staff
The conference included scientific discussions in different dental specialties, including:
• Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
• Prosthetics and dental implants
• Orthodontics
• Conservative and Aesthetic Dentistry
. Oral Diagnostic
• Basic sciences related to dentistry.
The conference recommended the necessity of achieving the scientific integration between researchers in various scientific disciplines and to give athe opportunity for postgraduate students to serve society and our dear country.
