Under the patronage of the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Baha Ibrahim Ensaf, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Raghed Abdulrazzaq Mohammed, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized the 17th Postgraduate Scientific Conference titled “The Role of Scientific Research in Community Development.”

The conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Amir Faisal, Administrative Assistant to the University President, representing the University President, Dr. Omar Khurshid, Head of the Oral and Dental Health Department at the Ministry of Health, along with several deans of colleges, faculty members, and postgraduate students.

The event commenced with various activities, including a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, a moment of silence for the souls of Iraq’s, Palestine’s, and Lebanon’s martyrs, followed by the national anthem and the University of Baghdad anthem.

The President of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Raghed Abdulrazzaq Al-Hashemi, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of the conference in fostering interaction and collaboration among postgraduate researchers and specialists at the College of Dentistry. He highlighted the college’s academic achievements and infrastructural developments, contributing to enhanced healthcare standards and the well-being of Iraqi society.

Prof. Dr. Amir Faisal also addressed the audience on behalf of the University President. He praised the college’s rich history and its significant contributions to community service and scientific advancements in dentistry. He emphasized that this conference serves as a platform for creative minds to present research that advances dental sciences and elevates the community. He concluded by commending the dedication of the academic staff, ambitious students, and all those who worked diligently to ensure the conference’s success.

The conference included an awards ceremony honoring distinguished contributions in the field of dentistry. Additionally, the University President’s representative inaugurated a dental-focused exhibition featuring scientific companies.

The event also featured specialized scientific lectures and presentations by postgraduate students, showcasing a wide range of research and innovative scientific outputs. A scientific poster exhibition further highlighted the advancements and effective communication in the field of dentistry.

The conference aimed to elevate the scientific and research standards in dentistry to achieve academic excellence and leadership while emphasizing the role of scientific research in community development. It showcased the latest research by postgraduate students at the College of Dentistry, focusing on sustainable development and improving healthcare quality.
