Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Ismail Ibrahim,
the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a training workshop entitled “Soldering and Welding in Orthodontic Removable Appliances.”
The workshop, attended by a number of students from the college, aimed to introduce participants to the fundamental practical skills in soldering techniques used in the manufacture of removable orthodontic appliances, ensuring manufacturing quality and clinical performance.
The workshop covered several key topics, including:
• The fundamentals of soldering in orthodontics.
• The difference between soldering and welding and their respective applications.
• The tools and equipment used in welding processes.
• The steps for preparing and fabricating the metal parts of removable appliances.
• Practical applications of soldering techniques for orthodontic appliance components.
• Common errors during the process and how to avoid them.
• Occupational safety standards within the laboratory.
The workshop recommended the following:
• Adherence to correct scientific procedures to ensure quality work.
• The use of high-quality materials and tools.
• Adherence to occupational safety procedures during work.
• Continued practical training to develop skills.
• Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies in the manufacture of orthodontic devices
