A Brief Overview of Prosthodontics Laboratory 

The laboratory was established in 1953 in the Faculty of Dentistry building. It specializes in teaching second-year students the practical steps involved in making complete dentures, starting from taking the initial impression and creating the primary cast, to the final polishing and preparation of the dentures for delivery to the patient.
The laboratory aims to prepare and equip second-year students at the College of Dentistry/University of Baghdad for the clinical practical steps on patients suffering from complete tooth loss in the upper and lower jaws, or one of them, which will be performed on patients in the fifth year of their studies.
The laboratory staff are well-qualified and trained in how to train students in the aforementioned steps. They are specialists holding academic titles (Assistant Professor, Lecturer, and Assistant Lecturer) and Master’s degrees.
Laboratory Vision, Mission, and Objectives:

The laboratory aims to train students in the practical steps of making complete dentures for the upper and lower jaws and how to complete them correctly, in preparation for the subsequent advanced stages (fifth year) in which students will be trained on patients suffering from complete tooth loss in the upper and lower jaws, or one of them.

Laboratory Structure

The second-year dental prosthetics laboratory is located in the Faculty of Dentistry building, University of Baghdad. It has an area of ​​188 square meters and accommodates approximately 40 to 45 students daily.

A Brief Overview of the Laboratory

The third-year Dental Prosthetics Laboratory 2 is a laboratory affiliated with the Department of Prosthodontics, established in 1957, and located in the Faculty of Dentistry building, University of Baghdad. In the laboratory, students are taught and trained on the practical and some clinical steps involved in making metal partial dentures. The laboratory is staffed by a specialized professor in dental prosthetics.

Laboratory Vision, Mission, and Objectives

Vision:

The dental prosthetics laboratory is one of the important and fundamental laboratories in the College of Dentistry, as it collaborates with other laboratories in the college to prepare qualified dentists to work in health and educational institutions and provide medical services to the community.

Mission:

The efforts of the laboratory staff are focused on understanding the main principles of prosthodontics and reinforcing the concepts of removable dental prostheses to prepare a generation of dentists capable of providing the best health and educational services to the community.

Objectives:

To teach third-year students how to perform the laboratory and some clinical steps for making metal partial dentures.
To teach and train third-year students on how to draw and design metal partial dentures.
To teach and train third-year students on how to draw and design acrylic partial dentures.
To teach and train third-year students on how to draw and design flexible partial dentures.
