The Computer Laboratory was established in 1991 as one of the laboratories of the Basic Sciences Department at the College of Dentistry. Educational institutions recognize the importance and benefits of computers in performing assigned tasks, including providing services, training, system development, and network services. The department has a vision of building a distinguished scientific foundation in the field of computer science and its applications. It strives to develop plans to improve staff and curricula to ensure compliance with quality standards. The center aims to keep pace with the rapid advancements in information technology and ready-made applications, contributing to their development and becoming a distinguished educational and research institution in its programs, curricula, and scientific research. The computer laboratory aims to prepare graduates qualified to efficiently handle application software and information technology, and to provide suitable opportunities to develop the community’s capabilities in utilizing advancements in information technology and meeting their needs. The laboratory teaches computer science to first-year students and conducts electronic exams for postgraduate students. The laboratory is part of the Basic Sciences Department, which is part of the College of Dentistry. The total area of the laboratory is 168.3 m². The laboratory has three qualified instructors with master’s degrees in computer science and extensive experience in teaching the subject. It also includes one technical officer with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering.
