The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a training course entitled “Comparison Between Removable and Fixed Retainers.” The course was delivered by Assistant Professor Shaimaa Shakir Taha and Lecturer Zainab Mousa Kazem, with the attendance of a number of postgraduate and undergraduate students of the college.
The training course aimed to highlight the latest techniques related to removable and fixed retainers in orthodontics, with the purpose of adopting them clinically in patient treatment, as well as promoting modern therapeutic approaches.
The course included several key topics, most notably:
1. Determining the appropriate retainer treatment plan based on individual cases, with emphasis on the importance of patient communication and regular follow-up.
2. Selecting suitable materials for retainer fabrication and continuous evaluation of stability.
3. Training participants in practical skills and updating knowledge based on the latest scientific evidence.
4. Developing a unified retention protocol for the center or clinic.
The training course recommended:
1. The necessity of adopting modern treatment methods.
2. The possibility of incorporating the presented methods into undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.
