Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Muhammad, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled Kirby-Bauer antibiotic testing as part of the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, delivered by Prof. Dr. Fadia Abdul Mohsen and attended by a number of faculty members at the college.
The workshop aimed to introduce antibiotics and their importance in treating pathological infections and the extent of resistance or sensitivity of microbes to these antibiotics.
The workshop also included several topics, including: defining the sensitivity test, the importance of the test, the method of conducting the test, the tools and materials needed to conduct the test, as well as how to interpret the test results.
The workshop recommended the necessity of conducting a sensitivity test in the event of infection with pathogenic microbes, including bacteria and fungi, in order to determine the appropriate treatment for the infection.
