Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Muhammad, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad/Women’s Affairs Unit organized a seminar entitled “First Aid and Civil Defense in the Workplace – Be a Cause and Save a Human Being.” The seminar was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Fadhli Saadoun Jabbar, a liaison member of the Women’s Affairs Division in the University Health Division, and attended by a number of students and faculty members from the college.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness among attendees and enable them to act appropriately in emergency situations.

The seminar also included several topics that addressed the concept of first aid, its importance in saving lives and reducing the severity of injuries, and clarified the basic steps for providing first aid, such as assessing the condition, communicating with emergency services, and performing artificial respiration and chest compressions in cases of cardiac arrest. It also addressed how to deal with burns, bleeding, fractures, and suffocation.  The symposium recommended the following:

1. Require all students to receive first aid training courses.

2. Establish student volunteer teams for emergency training in cooperation with Civil Defense.

3. Provide first aid kits in every classroom and public place within the educational institution.

4. Promote a culture of risk awareness and prevention within the educational community.
