Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Muhammad, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad/Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit organized a workshop entitled “Cybersecurity and Data Protection,” delivered by Asst. M.E. Iman Amer and attended by a number of college students.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness of cyber risks and teach participants the basics of digital protection, as well as the principles of ethical hacking and an understanding of laws and regulations related to cybersecurity.

The workshop also included several topics:

• An introduction to cybersecurity, covering the basic concepts and importance of digital protection.

• Types of cyber threats, including phishing, malware, and hacking attacks.

• Security basics, including password management, encryption, and firewalls.

• Network and systems security, securing wireless networks, servers, and devices.

• Cyberattacks and methods of countering them, as well as an analysis of attack methods and effective protection methods.

 The workshop recommended the following:

• Raising security awareness by spreading a culture of cybersecurity among individuals and organizations to reduce cyber risks.

• Avoiding suspicious links and attachments by not opening untrusted emails to avoid phishing scams.

• Using strong, complex passwords and updating them regularly, along with enabling two-factor authentication.
