Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, with the support of the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Insaf, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Muhammad. 

The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized the 25th International Scientific Conference under the theme “Innovation in Modern Technologies and Their Impact on the World of Periodontal Diseases and Dental Implants.” The conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, the Scientific Assistant, representing the President of the University of Baghdad; Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, President of Al-Naji University; Prof. Dr. Omar Faleh Hassan, Head of the Quality Assurance Department; and a large number of dentists. The conference took place on April 25-26, 2025, at Al-Hakim Hall at the University of Baghdad.  The conference included various activities, beginning with the opening ceremony, which included the national anthem, the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, and the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah in memory of the martyrs of Iraq. The opening ceremony also included screenings of introductory documentaries about Iraqi civilization and its scientific history, as well as documentaries about the achievements of the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad.

The conference chairman, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Muhammad, delivered his speech, in which he discussed the importance of the conference as a pioneering scientific platform aimed at enhancing academic and research cooperation between experts from around the world. This enables the exchange of knowledge and exposure to the latest innovations and technologies in the field of dentistry, contributing to the development of scientific research in Iraq and the application of the latest technological methods in diagnosis and treatment.  The esteemed Dean of the College praised the College’s achievements, highlighting its academic and research excellence, which reflects Iraq’s commitment to quality and leadership in research and education. He stated, “The field of dentistry is witnessing a qualitative leap thanks to innovation in modern technologies. Artificial intelligence and digital therapy have contributed to improving the accuracy of diagnosis and the quality of treatment, in addition to developing advanced solutions for treating gum disease and dental implants. Reliance is no longer limited to manual skills, but rather a combination of advanced medical knowledge and modern technology, which has enhanced the quality of healthcare and contributed to a tangible improvement in the patient experience.”

Prof. Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, the esteemed Scientific Assistant and representative of the President of the University of Baghdad, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the importance of this scientific event as a platform that brings together an elite group of researchers, academics, and doctors from Iraq and various countries around the world in a scientific demonstration aimed at exchanging experiences and keeping pace with the latest developments in the field of dentistry, particularly in the field of dental implants and periodontal problems, which have become a fundamental pillar within the precise specializations in this field.

Prof. Dr.  Suhail Najm Abdullah, stated that holding this international conference, in conjunction with the participation of a select group of major companies and institutions operating in the dental sector, enhances opportunities for integration between the academic and industrial sectors and opens promising horizons for developing therapeutic techniques and raising the clinical level, which will positively impact the quality of health services provided.

In his speech, he praised the pioneering role played by the University of Baghdad, emphasizing that the university views such events as an extension of its academic mission to support scientific research, stimulate innovation, and expand areas of international cooperation, thus contributing to serving students and researchers and enhancing performance. In a speech delivered during the conference, Dr. Muhannad Majid, Director of the Al-Ghadeer Center, emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships and joint cooperation between the center and the College of Dentistry, commending the vital role played by the college in supporting scientific and professional progress in the field of dentistry. He emphasized that the Al-Ghadeer Center prioritizes supporting scientific and research initiatives and opening up to reputable academic institutions, in order to build an integrated scientific environment that contributes to improving the level of health services provided to the community.  The medical equipment exhibition was inaugurated, and several valuable research papers were presented in the field of innovation in modern technologies and their impact on the world of periodontal disease and dental implants. This represents an important opportunity for specialists in this field to exchange knowledge, expertise, scientific research, and the latest technologies.

The conference aims to support the academic and research progress in the field of dentistry through the following:

1. Showcasing the latest scientific findings and applied research, and utilizing them to enhance the quality of academic education and promote the foundations of sustainable development.

2. Exchanging scientific and research expertise among researchers and specialists from various international universities and institutions, with a focus on advanced technologies in the fields of periodontal disease and dental implants.

3. Developing the research and academic competencies of faculty members and researchers, keeping pace with scientific developments and modern technologies in the field of dentistry.

4. Improving the level of healthcare provided to patients by adopting advanced treatment techniques that contribute to improving the quality and outcomes of treatment.
