Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad, represented by the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, organized a training course entitled “Contemporary Challenges in Combating Drug Addiction.”
The lecture was delivered by Lecturer Aisha Hammoudi Hashim and Lecturer Juman Diaa Habib, and was attended by a number of the college’s students.
The course aimed to raise awareness about how individuals can avoid falling into the trap of addiction, to explain the relationship between mental health and addiction and how each affects the other, and to introduce contemporary methods for combating drug addiction.
The training course included several key topics:
• The definition of addiction
• The impact of societal behaviors on individuals struggling with addiction
• Ways to prevent addiction
• Contemporary approaches to combating addiction
The course recommended organizing additional lectures and awareness sessions on drug addiction due to their importance in educational guidance and student development.
