A fourth-year student at the College of Dentistry, University of Baghdad, Nawal Mohammed Fawzi, discovered a scientific error in the prescribed textbook for the Orthodontics course, Textbook of Orthodontics (2nd edition).
Upon discovering the error, it was immediately presented to the Scientific Committee of the branch, where the mistake was verified. The global publishing house Jaypee Brothers was then contacted to address and correct the error. Notably, the newly released 3rd edition also contained the same error.
The respected Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed Al-Hashemi, praised this significant academic achievement. Discovering such an error reflects strong academic diligence and demonstrates the capability of the Iraqi mind to excel and innovate. It also serves as an indicator of the high quality of education at the College of Dentistry, University of Baghdad.
