The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad held the first meeting of the Industrial Advisory Council for the academic year 2024–2025 on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed, Dean of the College, and attended by Dr. Enas Al-Moussawi, Advisor to the Parliamentary Committee on Higher Education, and Dr. Iyad Banyan, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs.

The meeting addressed several important topics aimed at strengthening cooperation between the college, the industrial sector, and the academic community. Discussions focused on ways to develop academic curricula to keep pace with the changing requirements of the labor market and to enhance graduates’ competencies to meet societal needs. The importance of investing in scientific research and its role in economic development to achieve the concept of a knowledge-based economy was also emphasized.

Additionally, the meeting explored opportunities for student training in industrial institutions to enhance their practical skills and provide them with the necessary experience for future employment.

In his remarks, the Dean highlighted the importance of this partnership between the college and professional sectors, stressing that the development of education and practical training represents a fundamental step in fulfilling the college’s mission of preparing qualified medical professionals who can effectively contribute to supporting Iraq’s healthcare sector in the field of dentistry.
