Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “The Role of Education in Combating the Spread of Drugs and Violence in Society.”
The workshop was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Soha Talal Abdul, with the attendance of several faculty members and staff of the college.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about drugs, their dangers, and the extent of their local spread, while drawing attention to methods of prevention and educating attendees on how to avoid them. It also sought to discuss the role of universities in combating drugs by controlling and preventing their spread in Iraq.
The workshop covered several key topics, including:
- Identifying the reasons behind the increased use of addictive substances in Iraqi society.
- Understanding the role of families in protecting children from drug abuse.
- Exploring the role of media in preventing drug abuse.
- Highlighting the social consequences of drug abuse.
The workshop concluded with the following recommendations:
- The importance and necessity of joint efforts to identify and limit groups involved in drug use.
- Enforcing the law effectively.
- Encouraging youth institutions to spread awareness about the dangers of drugs.
