Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Mechanisms of Cell Death.”
The workshop was delivered by Prof. Dr. Batool Hassan Hashim, with the attendance of several faculty members.
The workshop aimed to explore the mechanisms of cell death in the body during inflammatory responses.
It covered several key topics, including:
- How cell death occurs in the body.
- The mechanisms that lead to cell death.
- The role of pyroptosis in immune response.
The workshop concluded with the following recommendation:
There are several distinct types of cell death, including programmed cell death and slow cell death, both mediated by inflammasomes. When these inflammasomes are excessively activated, they serve two main purposes: one protective and the other pathogenic.
