Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed,
the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Cumulative Sugar Test (HbA1c).” The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Dr. Salha Sahib Mousa, with the attendance of several faculty members.
Objective of the workshop:
To highlight the importance of conducting the cumulative sugar test (HbA1c) for the early detection of diabetes.
Workshop highlights:
- Definition of the HbA1c blood test, which measures the average blood sugar levels over the past three months.
- Diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
- Detection of prediabetes.
- Evaluation of the success of treatment plans for type 2 diabetes by determining the level of blood sugar control.
Recommendations:
- The necessity of conducting the HbA1c test for individuals with a family history of diabetes or those experiencing symptoms of the disease.
- The importance of adhering to treatment plans for diabetes management.
