Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed,
the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Cumulative Sugar Test (HbA1c).” The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Dr. Salha Sahib Mousa, with the attendance of several faculty members.

Objective of the workshop:
To highlight the importance of conducting the cumulative sugar test (HbA1c) for the early detection of diabetes.

Workshop highlights:

  • Definition of the HbA1c blood test, which measures the average blood sugar levels over the past three months.
  • Diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
  • Detection of prediabetes.
  • Evaluation of the success of treatment plans for type 2 diabetes by determining the level of blood sugar control.

Recommendations:

  1. The necessity of conducting the HbA1c test for individuals with a family history of diabetes or those experiencing symptoms of the disease.
  2. The importance of adhering to treatment plans for diabetes management.
