Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a training course entitled “ELISA Technique”, attended by a number of faculty members.
The aim of the course was to introduce participants to the ELISA technique, designed to detect and measure peptides, proteins, antibodies, and hormones. This technique is widely used in medical laboratories to verify the presence of a specific pathogenic antigen or antibody in a patient’s blood.
The training covered several key topics, including an overview of the ELISA technique, its applications, working principles, procedural steps, advantages and limitations, as well as its different types. There are four main types of ELISA: Direct ELISA, Indirect ELISA, Sandwich ELISA, and Competitive ELISA. These variations provide flexibility, allowing adjustments based on available antibodies, desired results, or sample complexity.
The course concluded with recommendations to enhance the expertise of faculty members and postgraduate students, encouraging them to apply this technique in their future research.
