On the occasion of National Afforestation Day, the Agricultural Unit at the College of Dentistry – University of Baghdad organized a large-scale tree-planting campaign targeting the college gardens. A number of seasonal and evergreen saplings were planted with the voluntary participation of several female staff members. The campaign also included planting trees in the sports field garden, reflecting a spirit of generosity, environmental care, and reinforcing the concept of sustainability within the college.

On this occasion, the esteemed Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Al-Hashemi, emphasized the importance of this initiative and its role in instilling a culture of afforestation among students and staff. He noted that “tree planting is an effective means of preserving the environment and improving air quality, while also enhancing environmental awareness within the university community and encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices that protect nature and its beauty.”

The Dean further affirmed that the college consistently seeks to support environmental initiatives that expand green spaces and contribute to providing a healthy and sustainable university environment. He stressed the importance of collective work and cooperation among all college members to achieve these goals.

This activity comes as part of a series of environmental initiatives organized by the college in its ongoing efforts to raise environmental awareness and participate in national endeavors to preserve green spaces, positively impacting both the environment and society as a whole.
