Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a continuing education course entitled “The Impact of Electronic Cigarettes on Oral Health”, attended by a number of faculty members.
The course aimed to introduce participants to electronic cigarettes, their types, effects, and associated risks on oral health.
Key topics covered included:
- Understanding electronic cigarettes and their different types.
- Exploring their general and physiological effects on oral health.
- Examining their impact on immune responses.
- Studying their influence on bacterial and Candida growth in the oral cavity.
The course concluded with recommendations emphasizing the importance of educating youth and families about the harmful effects of electronic cigarettes. It highlighted the serious risks these products pose to oral health and overall well-being, urging avoidance due to their detrimental consequences.
