Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghd Abdulrazzaq Mohammed,
the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad — through the Media and Government Communication Division, in cooperation with the Department of Basic Sciences — organized a scientific symposium entitled “Combating Corruption as a Basis for Achieving Integrity in Society.” The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Zainab Ali Salman, with the attendance of several college staff members.
The symposium aimed to highlight the importance of combating corruption as a phenomenon that threatens the stability of societies, while encouraging awareness and engagement to build a community characterized by integrity and sustainability.
The scientific symposium covered several key themes, including:
- The definition and forms of corruption
- The consequences and impacts of corruption
- The underlying causes of corruption
- The role of institutions in combating corruption
- Mechanisms for confronting this phenomenon
The symposium recommended the following:
- Strengthening anti‑corruption laws and ensuring their strict enforcement.
- Encouraging institutions to increase transparency and adopt open policies to reduce opportunities for corruption.
- Organizing awareness and educational campaigns to raise public understanding of the dangers of corruption and the role of all in combating it.
- Enhancing the role of civil society and encouraging active participation in monitoring and fighting corruption.
