Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghd Abdul Razzaq Mohammed, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific seminar entitled “Radioactive Pollution and Its Impact on the Environment and Humans.” The seminar was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Turki and Assistant Professor Dr. Abeer Khalid, with the attendance of a number of faculty members.
The seminar aimed to introduce the concept of radioactive pollution and to explain its natural and human-made sources.
The seminar included several key topics, providing a comprehensive explanation of the effects of radioactive pollution on the environment, the biological effects of ionizing radiation on the human body, and the impact of exposure to electromagnetic fields generated by wireless radiation emitted from mobile network towers, which may lead to various health and environmental issues.
The seminar recommended raising awareness about preventive measures against radiation and how to respond in cases of radiological emergencies. It also emphasized the importance of adhering to regulations when installing telecommunications towers to ensure the safety and health of citizens and to prevent potential serious health effects resulting from exposure to signal booster towers in the future.
