Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Mohammed, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a continuing education course entitled “The Impact of Dietary Supplements on the Human Body,” attended by a number of faculty members.
The course aimed to introduce the different types of dietary supplements and their classification according to composition and biological benefits, as well as their advantages and disadvantages, and their importance for human health.
The course covered several key topics, including:
• Types and classification of dietary supplements, their benefits and potential risks.
• Herbal supplements.
• Dietary supplements as immune system boosters.
• The importance of dietary supplements during pregnancy.
• The effects of dietary supplements and natural products in combating aging.
The course recommended paying close attention to proper nutrition and healthy dietary habits for all age groups—especially pregnant women and the elderly—before resorting to dietary and herbal supplements, prioritizing only the most essential ones to compensate for nutritional deficiencies.
