Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul-Razzaq Mohammed, and as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a seminar entitled: “Preparation and Characterization of Metal Powders for Titanium Compounds and Titanium Diboride Targeted Materials for Dental Implants.” The seminar was presented by postgraduate student Ali Mohammed Ali Hamza and attended by a number of postgraduate students and faculty members.

The seminar aimed to explore the use of these powders in creating porous implants and fabricating implants with custom dimensions, thus reducing reliance on pre-cast metal. It also addressed the potential use of these implants in areas of jawbone insufficient for conventional implants and provided information on international journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science that have an impact factor and CiteScore and are ranked in the first or second quartile globally.

The seminar included discussions on defining the mold used to manufacture the implant with the desired powdered material, the implant manufacturing process (cold pressing and thermal sintering for hardening), the journal in which the research was published, and the research structure (introduction, methods, materials, results, discussion, and conclusion).

The seminar recommended using this manufacturing method due to its low cost and the ease with which it can be produced within Iraq. It also recommended selecting reputable, peer-reviewed journals that provide researchers with a rigorous scientific approach to writing research, unlike commercial journals which do not lead to the desired outcome.
