Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul-Razzaq Mohammed
The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Mechanisms of Cell Death,” presented by Professor Dr. Batoul Hassan Hashem. The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members.
The workshop aimed to explore the role of neutrophil extracellular trapping in the immune response.
The workshop covered the following topics:
1- How neutrophil extracellular trapping occurs.
2- The mechanisms leading to neutrophil extracellular trapping.
3- The role of NETs in the immune response.
The workshop concluded that NETosis is a program for the formation of extracellular traps for neutrophils (NETs), which consist of modified chromatin decorated with bactericidal proteins from the granules and cytoplasm. Various pathogens, antibodies, immune complexes, cytokines, microcrystals, and other physiological triggers can cause NETosis.
