The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “The Importance of Periodic Checkups for Early Disease Detection.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Shaimaa Sabti Mutlaq and attended by a number of students and faculty members.
The workshop aimed to introduce the most important medical checkups that are recommended to be performed periodically.
The workshop also covered several key topics, including:
1- The importance of periodic medical checkups in prevention and early detection, and their role in reducing disease progression and improving treatment and recovery rates.
2- The types of basic periodic checkups and how to perform them, along with a description of the recommended laboratory and diagnostic tests and the required intervals for each.
3- The role of early detection in improving quality of life and reducing health complications.
4- Promoting a culture of periodic checkups and integrating them into a healthy lifestyle through health awareness, continuous medical follow-up, and building sustainable preventive behavior. The workshop recommended the importance of conducting periodic medical examinations, which are an essential part of the ongoing healthcare system, by undergoing a specific set of examinations, so that doctors can identify potential risks and treat health problems early, detect and treat diseases before symptoms worsen, and develop a plan for a healthy future.
