Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Ismail Ibrahim
The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Insulin Production,” presented by Professor Dr. Shatha Qasim, and attended by a number of students and faculty members.
The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of insulin, its methods of use, and the extraction and purification of insulin. The produced insulin is separated using bacterial cells and purified to become suitable for therapeutic use.
The workshop covered several key topics, including:
1. The concept of insulin and its vital and therapeutic importance, along with its functions in regulating blood sugar levels and its role in treating diabetes.
2. Mechanisms for producing synthetic insulin using biotechnology, including the role of genetic engineering and its applications.
3. Recent developments in insulin production and its therapeutic uses, reviewing modern global technologies, types of insulin injections, and methods for their safe and effective administration. The workshop recommended the following:
1- Holding educational workshops and seminars to familiarize participants with the different methods and types of insulin injections used.
2- Learning about the latest methods used globally.
3- Emphasizing the importance and development of genetic engineering, as well as the role of biotechnology.
