Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Ali Ismail Ibrahim.

The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific seminar entitled “Towards a Supportive Environment for Children with Down Syndrome.” The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Amal Yousef Mohsen Al-Yassiri and attended by a number of faculty members and staff.

The seminar aimed to highlight ways to provide a suitable and supportive environment for children with Down syndrome, contributing to their social integration and improving their quality of life.

The seminar covered several topics, including the concept and characteristics of Down syndrome, the psychological, educational, and health needs of children with Down syndrome, the concept of a supportive environment and its importance in developing children’s abilities, the role of the family, school, and community in creating a positive and supportive environment, and a review of the most common challenges and proposed solutions for addressing them. The symposium recommended: Emphasizing the responsibility of the family, educational institutions and society in supporting children with Down syndrome, focusing on their abilities and latent potential, in addition to promoting the message of empowerment and hope in a way that contributes to building a more aware and accepting society for this group.
