Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Ismail Ibrahim, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad – Career Development and Employment Unit – organized a seminar as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. The seminar, titled “Innovation and Technology,” was presented by Dr. Raghad Khalid and attended by a number of students, faculty members, and staff.

The seminar aimed to introduce the concepts of innovation and technology and demonstrate their complementary relationship. It also highlighted artificial intelligence and its role in supporting innovation and accelerating development, while promoting awareness of the responsible and ethical use of modern technologies.

The seminar covered several topics, including the concept of innovation as the transformation of ideas into practical and valuable solutions. It also explored the concept of technology as tools and systems for applying scientific knowledge, clarifying the difference between innovation as an idea and technology as a means of implementation, and emphasizing their reciprocal relationship. Furthermore, the seminar discussed artificial intelligence, its concept, its key areas, and its role in data analysis, accelerating research and development, and supporting smart services across various sectors. The panel also addressed key applications of artificial intelligence, along with the ethical and technical challenges associated with its use, particularly those related to privacy, bias, and over-reliance on intelligent systems.

The panel recommended the importance of adopting smart strategies for using artificial intelligence, investing in developing human skills, establishing clear ethical and regulatory frameworks, and achieving a balance between human creativity and advanced technology in a way that serves society and promotes sustainable development.
