Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Ismail Ibrahim Al-Bustani.
The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific seminar entitled “Limitations of Invisalign,” presented by Professor Dr. Mashreq Fawzi, and attended by a number of faculty members.
The seminar aimed to highlight the limitations of invisalign and understand the associated clinical challenges, thereby contributing to improved case selection and treatment planning for better therapeutic outcomes.
The seminar covered several topics, including the limitations of invisalign in controlling complex tooth movements such as rotation and vertical movements, and the limitations of predicting planned movements accurately. It also addressed the impact of patient adherence on treatment success, and the role of attachments and aligner materials in enhancing or limiting treatment results. Furthermore, the seminar highlighted clinical challenges during treatment, comparing its effectiveness to traditional braces and identifying cases that warrant its use.
The seminar recommended the following:
1- The judicious use of invisalign according to criteria for selecting appropriate cases. 2. Enhancing the digital treatment planning skills of orthodontists.
3. Raising patient awareness about the importance of adhering to the treatment plan.
4. Resorting to traditional braces in cases that exceed the scope of clear aligners.
