The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad, through its Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Unit, organized a workshop entitled “Education and Skills Development” as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ghada Ibrahim Taha and attended by a number of students, faculty members, and staff.

The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of education and skills development to learners at both the personal and institutional levels, enabling them to choose and implement appropriate learning strategies that contribute to achieving their goals, enhancing critical and creative thinking, and keeping pace with the rapid changes in the job market.

The workshop covered several topics, including the importance of learning skills in the modern era and their role in maintaining professional competence and increasing productivity. It also clarified the difference between teaching methods and learning strategies and demonstrated the impact of active learning on improving understanding and information retention. The workshop also reviewed several effective learning strategies, metacognitive skills, and self-regulation, along with tools and techniques that support learning, such as mind mapping, educational technology, and continuous assessment. It presented practical steps for developing learning skills through planning, organization, review, and evaluation, showcasing applied models, success stories, and real-world experiences.

The workshop recommended making learning a continuous daily habit that contributes to building sustainable skills in the long term, integrating self-regulation skills into the educational process to enhance learning efficiency, and emphasizing the importance of knowledge sharing and exchanging experiences among learners to achieve more effective and impactful collaborative learning.
