The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad – Women’s Affairs Unit – organized a legal workshop entitled “Introduction to Legal Penalties and Their Causes.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Imad Bandar Atwan and attended by a number of faculty members and staff.

The workshop aimed to familiarize government employees with the disciplinary penalties imposed for violations of various job duties and how to deal with the laws and protect themselves under the law.

The legal workshop included several topics addressing the concept of disciplinary penalties imposed by the administrative authority, the objectives behind their imposition, the employee’s duties and responsibilities, the prohibited actions that should be avoided, and the disciplinary penalties of various types and degrees resulting from violating them. The workshop also addressed employees’ legal rights, particularly their right to appeal disciplinary actions in accordance with applicable legal procedures and frameworks.

The workshop recommended that employees adhere to the laws, instructions, and regulations governing work in state institutions, thereby contributing to enhanced professional discipline and efficient workflow. It emphasized that disciplinary penalties are not intended as punishment but rather as a means of regulating the work environment and protecting both the institution and the employee, as well as reinforcing the principles of workplace justice. The workshop also stressed the importance of disseminating legal awareness among employees, as it represents an effective tool that contributes to the efficient, conscious, and responsible performance of duties.
