The College of Dentistry at University of Baghdad hosted a consultative meeting between the University of Baghdad and Tehran University of Medical Sciences with the aim of establishing the mechanisms and strategic plans necessary to activate the scientific and academic cooperation agreement signed between the two institutions, which had previously received the approval of the Prime Minister.

Representing the University of Baghdad at the meeting were the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, the Dean of the College of Dentistry, the Dean of Al-Kindy College of Medicine, the Assistant Dean of the College of Pharmacy, as well as a representative from the College of Medicine. Representing Tehran University of Medical Sciences were the Assistant President of the University for International Affairs, Professor Dr. Kourosh Jafarian, together with a faculty member from the university.

The participants discussed the general frameworks for scientific and academic collaboration. The Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and the deans of the medical group colleges emphasized the importance of expanding prospects for joint research cooperation, particularly in the fields of nanotechnology, tissue engineering, and stem cell research, in light of the distinguished scientific standing and research leadership of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in these vital disciplines.

The meeting also addressed the possibility of joint supervision of postgraduate students, in addition to discussing several scientific and academic topics of mutual interest, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two universities and advancing research and educational standards.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on the fundamental steps required to activate the cooperation agreement, with further meetings scheduled in the coming period to finalize the implementation plan.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Assistant President of the University of Baghdad for Scientific Affairs expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the visiting delegation for their attendance and active participation despite the current circumstances. He affirmed that activating this agreement reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its international partnerships with global universities, particularly European, Japanese, and Iranian institutions, in a manner that serves the shared scientific and academic interests of both parties.
